Financial Centre Frankfurt

The financial capital of continental Europe, Frankfurt am Main, is home to over 200 banks, including 161 international banks, as well as the third largest European stock exchange, where more than EUR 135 billion are traded on a daily basis through the Xetra online exchange. Important banks headquartered in Frankfurt are Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, DZ Bank, and DekaBank. Besides branches of almost all the world’s major banks, the two leading rating agencies, the Big Four accounting firms and international law firms are also present in Frankfurt.

A large number of the more than 300 asset managers based in Germany are also located in Frankfurt am Main, including the four largest (DWS, Allianz Global Investor, Union Investment and DekaBank), which between them manage total assets of over EUR 1.7 trillion (As of 2018). At the same time, Frankfurt headquarters the European Central Bank, the German Bundesbank, and the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority. Altogether, a total of around 9,000 companies with a focus on financial services operate in Frankfurt.

Geographically, Frankfurt offers fast access to all corners of the world with the Frankfurt Airport and the well-connected ICE railway network. The concentration of financial institutions also leads to an outstanding infrastructure, which makes it easy to find the perfect location for an event or the ideal restaurant for a dinner.
