
Financial Centre Milan
Milan is the economic and financial centre of Italy. Half of the country’s 200 largest companies are based in Milan. The city’s founding scene has blossomed in recent years due to its forward-looking and innovative orientation. As the financial centre of the country, Milan is home to some of the largest Italian banks, for instance the FinecoBank, the Banca Sistema, the Banco BPM, the Mediobanca and the UniCredit Group. Approximately 200 other banks, including 50 branches of major foreign banks, are located in either Milan or Rome. Also, the only Italian stock exchange, the Borsa Italiana, is based in Milan.
The Borsa Italiana merged with the London Stock Exchange in 2007, becoming a part of one of the largest and oldest stock exchanges in Europe. In addition to numerous companies, start-ups, major banks and the Italian stock exchange, Milan is also home to offices of the Big Four auditing firms, two of the leading rating agencies, and international law firms. Many asset managers are also based in Milan, such as Anima SGR, Cordusio Wealth Management (unicredit group), Titan Capital Management and Amundi Italia. Moreover, the Bocconi University in Milan is also renowned for its economics and finance study programs ensuring, a highly-qualified pool of talent.
The city has a very advanced infrastructure with a well-connected railroad network as well as three airports. Of course, the city of fashion offers an excellent quality of life with a multitude of high-class restaurants, events and shopping centres.
