Dermapharm Holding SE signs cooperation and delivery agreement with BioNTech SE on the production of a COVID-19 vaccine<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Gr\u00fcnwald, September 10, 2020 \u2013 Dermapharm Holding SE (\u201cDermapharm\u201d), a leading manufacturer of patent-free branded pharmaceuticals for selected therapeutic areas, will support the vaccine developer BioNTech SE in part of the vaccine production of BNT162b2 starting in the fourth quarter of 2020. Once approval for the vaccine has been received, the Dermapharm Group will make production capacities available and expand them at its German site in order to offer BioNTech the greatest possible support. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Together with the collaboration partner Pfizer, BioNTech has initiated a global Phase 2b\/3 study involving the COVID-19 vaccine BNT162b2. Provided the study is successful, BioNTech and Pfizer plan to submit an application for marketing authorisation or regulatory approval from October 2020.<\/p>\n

If the COVID-19 vaccine candidate BNT162b2 is approved, BioNTech and Pfizer plan to provide up to 100 million vaccine doses worldwide by the end of this year and up to 1.3 billion doses next year. For this purpose, the Dermapharm Group will make production capacities available immediately and expand them as quickly as possible. The active ingredient, the mRNA, is manufactured in Germany by BioNTech.<\/p>\n

\u201cDermapharm has unique know-how in the manufacture of aseptic products and in the handling of lipids, to which a key function is attributed in the formulation of vaccines,\u201d commented Dr. Hans-Georg Feldmeier, Chairman of the Management Board of Dermapharm Holding SE.<\/p>\n

Dermapharm has created the necessary conditions in its production facility in a very short time.<\/p>\n

Dermapharm is a leading manufacturer of patent-free branded pharmaceuticals for selected markets in Germany. Founded in 1991, the company is based in Gr\u00fcnwald near Munich and has its main manufacturing facility in Brehna near Leipzig.
